Monique, chic chick
with stylish long eyelash
From over the top of
her expensive, glossy mag
Sees a young beggar
girl with baby, both in rags
Holds out her empty tin
cup, for a little loose cash
Reading swish ads in
Vogue, she now finds it harder
To ignore the rogue
vagrant and monkey-eyed baby
Who both wish to God,
muttering, that just maybe....
But no, her fluttering
eyes are fixated on ads for Prada
Monique crosses her
long legs, sipping her Starbucks
Applies her Channel,
thinking ‘ it’s far better to be rich’
Sneering down at the
starving, begging brown bitch
And anyway, she says,
blinking ’ who gives a flying fuck?’
